Site Survey

I can imagine
the glossy eyes

and slobbery chin
of that yapping dog.

It will probably
out-live the old lady.

Nonetheless, it will
disappear, eventually.

When they haul the
lady's body to the morgue

the little dog will follow
like some vestigial organ.

The organs, those eyes,
like small land-locked

fishing holes, will become
a reminder of

forgotten places,
of material remains.

Human refuse.

Our ancestors will use
fragments of their bones

to weave convincing
fictions by the hearthside.

Skullmatter

Skulls

get shattered

and it's

not a matter

of violence,

it's a matter

of hammers.

Certain pieces

will come up

missing.

*Fill in the pieces with dough.

The Hominins

*
Come here
antelope;

I will hold
your antlers

in a sexy pose
with other men

all scrolled out
in chronology.

Real tough guys.

*
It is evident
by the shapes

of our heads
that we were

attracted to
the alien women.

Dr. Anthropology

O, take that
Australopithecus

skull and hold it up
to your face!

Now in a high-pitched
voice say:

"Hi kids, welcome
to anthropology!"

Photo 2

Gigantic gorilla w/ no head
hardened in wooden cask,
your arms have been canceled.

There is a flag on the play.
Your thick body left
hominid foot prints.

"It's an oddly large creature,"
said some Indian scholar.
"And, perhaps it is the culprit

of the millions of mysterious
animal mutilations."
